Mr. Duff Green is remembered by many for the charitable work he did in the region. A bequest in his will created the Duff McDuff Green, Jr. Fund of The Community Foundation to continue supporting the same issues and interests he supported during his lifetime: promoting outdoor recreation opportunities, preserving cultural and historic assets around the region and advancing the lives of our area young people.
Organizations that won grants last year include: Caroline Family YMCA, Central Rappahannock Regional Library, Downtown Greens, Inc., King George County Parks & Recreation, Ladies Memorial Association of Fredericksburg, Loisann's Hope House, QuickStart Tennis Of Central Virginia, Rappahannock Aviation Outreach, Rappahannock CASA, Riverside Foundation for the Performing Arts, Stafford Junction, The Doctor Yum Project and the Town of Port Royal.
“The Community Foundation is designed to elevate local giving and ensure resources for the future – when a donor like Mr. Green establishes a fund at the foundation, they are making a difference that will continue indefinitely,” said Foundation Executive Director, Teri McNally. “A named charitable fund at the foundation is a distinctive regional asset.”
