The Community Foundation Awards $141,569 in Scholarships to Local Students

Fredericksburg, VA – The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region awarded $141,469 in scholarships to 55 area high school seniors on Sunday, May 20th.
This year was remarkable because 11 students receiving substantial scholarship awards - $5,000 or more – to launch their future plans. When scholarship funds are entrusted to The Community Foundation, they are invested with a goal to ensure long-term appreciation while meeting charitable needs over time. Each year, renewed resources are available to support graduating high school seniors. Today, the foundation manages 40 different scholarship funds on behalf of generous individuals and families that want to strengthen the greater Fredericksburg community.
For the first time this year, the foundation held its annual scholarship reception at the Fredericksburg Country Club. Kaeser Compressors, Inc. and Tina Jackson Photograpy provide sponsorships to help recognize students and donors. The reception often gives student winners, scholarship fund donors and families their only opportunity to meet in person.
Scholarships are not only an important validation for a successful high school career; they can be a life changing financial resource as well.
