Women & Girls Fund Members Select Winners - $15,000 in Grants to Support Local Women and Girls
April 7, 2017
On Wednesday, March 29 The Women and Girls Fund of The Community Foundation hosted a Live Ballot event for donor members to choose suitable recipients for $15,000 in grant funds.
Fund members chose to make four grants to organizations actively promoting the welfare of area women and girls. The donor members gathered to meet grant candidates, discuss their proposals and cast the deciding votes (electronic absentee voting was available for members who could not attend). The foundation extends its thanks to all who applied for funding and attended the annual event, as well as the charter members leading the movement to invest in the future of local women and girls.
The Community Foundation founded its Women and Girls Fund on the principle that investing in women is a powerful way to invest in our community. It is both a component fund of the Foundation and a local movement to involve women in philanthropy. The founding vision is a fund made up of 1,000 women, each willing to pledge $1,000 to create a $1 million endowment that makes future grantmaking a permanent, sustainable community asset.
