The Community Give 2016
MADE IT A MILLION!
Together, we can raised over A MILLION DOLLARS
- in just 36 hours -
for the causes and issues most important to our region!
What is The Community Give?
The Community Give is about working together for a single day, celebrating our spirit of generosity and making a significant and heartfelt impact on each of the lives touched by the hard-working nonprofit organizations that affect so many areas of our lives and community. The Community Give is a day of giving when everyone in our region is asked to make a donation and show support for the local nonprofit organizations that positively impact our lives every day.
The Community Foundation drives traffic to our giving day website (www.thecommunitygive.org) using every marketing/outreach/media opportunity available to us. Donors choose the issue or nonprofit organization most important to them and make a secure online donation.
In 2016, The Community Foundation and generous sponsors of The Community Give offered $100,000 in cash prizes (grants) for participating nonprofits as a way to build excitement and maximize the benefits for donors and nonprofits.
What is the Goal of The Community Give?
Oh nothing big - we just want to make history! During our 2015 event, over 8,000 people throughout our region gave over $800,000 - the most raised in a single day! Sponsors provided $100,000 in prizes. Our target was to reach 7,500 people and raise $750,000, and we surpassed both goals!
MADE IT A MILLION! Together we have the power to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars and make a significant impact on the future of the Rappahannock River region. All it takes is a donation of $25 or more to your favorite nonprofit.

What Does The Community Foundation Do?
The Community Foundation invests in the giving day web platform and event marketing. In 2014, 2015 and 2016, we raised $100,000 in prizes that were distributed to participating nonprofits each year.
Nonprofits were a driving force in making The Community Give 2016 another successful event. To engage current donors and reach new ones, The Community Foundation provided communications guidance, social media messaging, outreach strategy, and live training in the months prior to May 3rd, 2016. Our commitment has been to provide nonprofits with a comprehensive toolkit for promoting and maximizing their participation in these events.
The Community Foundation promoted the event through all available online and offline channels, including print media, radio spots with the Star Radio Group, Facebook, Twitter and more.
The Community Foundation ensures accurate acknowledgement and appropriate receipts for all online donations to participating nonprofits.
