#GIVE16 Returning Nonprofits
We are delighted to welcome you once again to The Community Give!
Last year, The Community Foundation set a community fundraising goal of $750,000. Thanks to your efforts and the generosity of local sponsors and donors, we raised $822,266!
I’m sure you can guess what we’re up to this year – let’s Make it A Million!
Step One - Profiles
As a returning nonprofit, you will need to refresh your 2015 event page profile. You will need to create a password using a custom link. Please click here to contact Lisa Biever by email at email@example.com to request your link.
(New nonprofits only should use the registration form at www.thecommunitygive.org.)
New for 2016
• You will need to establish a password when you first visit this site.
• You will be asked to provide 3 images that tell the story of your work.
• You will be asked to define your service area.
• You will provide a 15-word statement about your organization for the foundation’s marketing and PR work.
As in the past, the information you provide will populate the giving day profile for your organization. Donors who click and give during the event will be able to read and learn about your mission and strategies. The deadline to register is April 1, 2016, but you are encouraged to register as early as possible to take advantage of publicity, training and technical support offerings.
Step Two - Mark Your Calendar!
One of The Community Give's added benefits for nonprofits is collaborative learning, training and technical support. Make sure you take advantage of these opportunities by attending our trainings and webinars. You'll receive a separate online invitation where you can submit your rsvp, but mark your calendar now.
Trainings will be held at Germanna Community College’s Center for Workforce Development – Germanna Fredericksburg Area Campus - 10000 Germanna Point Drive - Fredericksburg, VA
We are once again partnering with the Virginia Center for Nonprofit Excellence to deliver the training. Many returning nonprofits will be happy to know that Sarah Milston, CFRE, MPA of The Spark Mill will be returning and that we are adding new trainers as well.

Step Three – Planning and Preparation
Community Give veterans know that the training process and resource tools help you get ready to make the most of The Community Give and increase your organization’s capacity to meet its mission.
If you’re chomping at the bit, be sure to review the tools and resources available at www.thecommunitygive.org. Note that the full 2016 site is scheduled to publish on Monday, February 1st.
Resources include slides and recordings from last year’s training events as well as Kimbia's webinars for nonprofits, which are available on demand. We’ll be letting you know as new trainings are announced, and you can get started today with Giving Day Planning Strategies for Nonprofits: http://www.givelocalamerica.org/resource/giving-day-planning-strategies-for-nonprofits/ Additional resources from Kimbia can be found here: http://www.givelocalamerica.org/nonprofits/.
As in the past, The Community Give event is connected and coordinated with Give Local America, but our local branding is different. The Kimbia resources are branded for Give Local America and provided to a national audience, so they are somewhat more “generic” than the resources The Community Foundation will be providing.
