The Alice Gray and Rick Johnson Memorial Fund
Established by Kelly and Fitz Johnson in August 2014, this fund will provide general charitable support to local nonprofit organizations.
“Establishing a fund in my parents’ name was an easy decision because Kelly and I believe in the mission of The Community Foundation and it seemed like an appropriate way to honor them,” said Fitz Johnson, son of Orrick (Rick) Fitzhugh Johnson. “Everything I have and everything that I am is a direct result of them.”
Laughing, Fitz shared that his father was known for saying, “It’s good to be well-descended, but the glory belongs to the ancestors.”
That spirit of humble appreciation inspired Kelly and Fitz to create the Alice Gray and Rick Johnson Fund at The Community Foundation. This donor advised fund will provide charitable grants in perpetuity -- an everlasting tribute to the well-known couple who were born, grew up and prospered in Fredericksburg.
