The Kerry Keilty Memorial Endowment Fund
This fund was established by Tim and Colby Keilty in memory of Tim’s first wife, Kerry Lynn Shumway Keilty, who battled brain cancer until December of 2004.
Kerry Keilty was one of those rare people whose energy and zest for life lit up the lives of those around her. Kerry had a flair for fashion, an infectious sense of humor, a spirit of giving and an eternal commitment to family. Kerry was born in Corvallis, Oregon and graduated From Western Oregon State University. Because it was the perfect place to raise their family, the Keilty's made Fredericksburg their home in 1993. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the Lee's Hill Elementary PTA. Steadfastly committed to her boys and their love of soccer, Kerry served as treasurer of their U11 Hot Spur travel soccer team.
Kerry's family and friends began raising funds to support brain cancer research in 2004, primarily through their March Madness Golf Classic. It is hoped that establishing this fund with The Community Foundation will create a permanent resource to support continuing commitment to finding a cure. With the help of the Kerry Keilty Memorial Endowment Fund and the many generous people who are willing to give in her honor, the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University will bring an end to this dreadful disease. At Duke there is HOPE.
2015 marks the 10th anniversary of the March Madness Classic Golf Tournament in memory of Kerry Keilty, as well as Joanne Kaufman, Paige Woolwine and Donald Gallagher. To register for the golf tournament or learn more, visit the tournament website: http://marchmadnessclassic.org/ or register here .
