Paula was grateful to advisors Conor Ashby and Doug Stewart. Initially the funds she established with The Community Foundation allowed her to play “Madame X”, an anonymous local philanthropist who loved local history. During her lifetime, she made gifts to benefit people with intellectual disabilities through The Anne Felder Fund, named in honor of her daughter. She also made gifts to preserve and study important historical documents through a fund now known as The Virginia Heritage Fund.
When she passed away in 2012, Paula’s directions concerning her estate ensured that her charitable legacy would grow and continue – and even inspired the creation of two new funds: The Hugh and Marion McCabe Charitable Fund and The McCabe-Felder Endowment Fund.
