| Bethany Christian Services of Virginia - Meeting the needs of infants born to low income unwed mothers | $600.00 | | Bethany will provide short term material support for newborns including diapers, formula, clothing, portable cribs and car seats. | | | | | | Big Brothers Big Sisters – King George County Schools Landscape Beautification Project | $1,000.00 | | Work towards beautifying the grounds of three elementary schools and a middle school in KG County. Primary activities will include excavation, weeding, and planting landscape flowers and shrubbery. They will maintain the project once completed. | | | | | | Fredericksburg Counseling Services and Hope House - Bounce Back | $600.00 | | Fredericksburg Counseling will provide group therapy at Hope House which is designed to teach elementary aged children the concept of resiliency: Activities designed to demonstrate to members- insight, independence, relationships, initiative, humor and creativity. | | | | | | Greater Fredericksburg SPCA - Care Center Equipment | $1,000.00 | | Help the SPCA toward their goal of a new Humane Care Center that will be able to care of 3x more community animals. Primary activities include various bake sales to help raise the money needed for a T Kennel. This money will provide for the cost of a T Kennel. | | | | | | Hospice Support Care - Scrapbooking and Newsletter | $500.00 | | The Children’s Bereavement Program will create a newsletter which will provide children with an opportunity to work together, share their writing s and interests and communicate with their parents. In addition they will work with the students to make scrapbooks which will give them a creative outlet as well as a chance to save memories in honor a loved one if desired and increase self esteem. | | | | | | Post Oak Middle School – Interact Club Service in our Community | $300.00 | | This project provides students with disabilities an opportunity to interact with peers (with and without disabilities) to develop and refine appropriate social skills needed to be effective citizens. During club hours they have homework help and create projects to donate to other organizations. | | | | | | Students for Environmental Action at JMHS/ Bragg Hill Family Life Center/ Friends of the Rappahannock/ Williams Environmental Group /Rappahannock Valley Garden Club – Rain Garden Project | $1,000.00 | | Area students will design and build a rain garden with community involvement at the Bragg Hill Family Life Center. In addition they will provide an educational tool for students and schools in the area and to make youth in the area more environmentally aware and proactive. | |
