Now is the perfect time to consider supporting our local students and schools. Here are three ways you can help:

1) Create a Scholarship Fund

The Community Foundation's scholarship funds are flexible and can be structured to benefit students on multiple post-high school paths. The foundation works with donors to determine the scope of scholarships. Some donors may choose to focus on a particular field of study or to support students who demonstrate financial need. Donors often use scholarship funds to honor or memorialize a loved one.

Donors have the option to maintain a voice in the student selection process while they rely upon The Community Foundation’s Scholarship Committee to handle the necessary paperwork and ensure that scholarships are distributed equitably and according to the fund's criteria.

2) Take advantage of Virginia's Education Improvement Scholarship Tax Credits Program

As an approved scholarship foundation, The Community Foundation can process 65% state tax credits on behalf of donors and issue scholarships for students in need.

3) Give to an Education Fund

The Community Foundation has 43 scholarship funds that provide over $150,000 in funding to local students. Support one of these established funds or learn more about the foundation's Youth in Philanthropy program or other education-focused funds.
