Inaugural Grantmaking Cycle Opens
We are now accepting applications for the inaugural funding cycle of the Fredericksburg Savings Charitable Foundation Fund at The Community Foundation. In January 2021, the Fredericksburg Savings Charitable Foundation dissolved and transferred over $13 million in assets to The Community Foundation to create an endowed fund. We are honored to be the steward of this transformative gift and are thankful that this investment will remain in our region in perpetuity.
“We’re happy to pass it [the fund] on to The Community Foundation because it’s a perfect fit. It’s time for a younger generation to become its steward so that the fund can continue to support the community as we’ve always done.” - Sam Harding, President of the Fredericksburg Savings Charitable Foundation.
Established in 1998, the private Fredericksburg Savings Charitable Foundation donated generously to many community organizations over the years. In January 2021, this private foundation transferred its over $13 million in assets to The Community Foundation as an unrestricted fund.
