FREDERICKSBURG, VA – On Sunday, June 8, 57 local students were honored during The Community Foundation’s annual Scholarship Reception held at Stevenson Ridge. Surrounded by family, friends, fund representatives, and community leaders, the 2025 scholarship recipients were recognized for their achievements and awarded a combined total of over $235,000 in scholarship support.
Hosted annually, the event not only celebrates student success but also honors the legacy of 55 scholarship funds established by local families, individuals, and organizations who believe in the power of education to transform lives. Each fund represents a unique story—some created in memory of loved ones, others in tribute to mentors or community values—but all focused on one shared goal: supporting the educational journey of the next generation.
“The Community Foundation is a vehicle that allows us to make an investment in the future of the Rappahannock Region,” said Dr. Kimberly Young, President-Elect of The Community Foundation’s Board of Governors. “I cannot think of a better investment than in our young people who are launching into their lives beyond high school.”
The Foundation’s scholarship program supports a wide variety of academic and career paths—from traditional four-year degrees to technical training and service-driven leadership. Scholarships are awarded to students across the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, Stafford, and surrounding localities.
