The Clay and Elsie Williams Rural Conservation Scholarship
This scholarship was established to perpetuate the ethic of responsible rural conservation and preservation - of both the land and the community of its people - by the family and friends of H. Clay and Elsie L. Williams of Longfield Farm, King George, and to memorialize their lifetimes and enduring commitment to giving back to the community via service.
The donors wish to support the college or university education of a young woman or man from King George County. In particular, the donors intend for their gift to support the further education of students who are committed to pursuing avenues of education that will enable them to make significant contributions back to their community, be it by responsible stewardship of the land, preservation of clean air and waterways, preservation and protection of historic sites and resources, the development of alternative energy systems, or of sustainable agricultural practices or technologies that contribute to any of the aforesaid. Applications are welcomed from all King George County students and especially from students with a rural or agricultural background and from those for whom circumstances or financial need may create obstacles to further education.
Scholarships are eligible for yearly renewal but require reapplication and will be considered along with all applicants for the award.
Applicants must attend King George High School or be homeschooled in King George County.

About Scholarship Funds
Donors help area students achieve their dreams by establishing or contributing to a scholarship fund at The Community Foundation. Scholarship funds are flexible and can be structured to benefit students at any education level, or for a specific institution. Donors often use scholarship funds to honor or memorialize a loved one.
Donors maintain an active voice in the student selection process while they rely upon The Community Foundation’s Scholarship Committee to handle the necessary paperwork and ensure that scholarships are distributed equitably.

Apply for a Scholarship
The online application portal will walk students through our application process.
- Students submit general information such as address and high school, as well as information about extracurricular activities or awards.
- Students use the online application to provide the name and email address of their guidance counselor and other individuals. These contacts will receive an email requesting the student’s high school transcript or a personal reference.
