Aune Sturdy Animal Protection Fund
The Aune Sturdy Animal Protection Fund was established at The Community Foundation in November 2013. The fund focuses on providing for the care, support and protection of animals in the City of Fredericksburg and counties of Spotsylvania and Stafford, Virginia.
This fund supports the work of organizations such as animal humane societies, animal shelters, animal adoption agencies, low-cost spay/neuter clinics, individual wildlife rehabilitators, as well as other deserving animal welfare associations.

- Applications open January 19, 2026.
- Applications will not be accepted after 5:00 PM on February 26, 2026.
- Outcomes will be announced the week of March 23, 2026.
- Funds should be used within 10 months of the grant award.
