The Dori Gaythwaite Eglevsky Endowment Fund
Both a business owner and a philanthropist, Dori Eglevsky is invested in the health and well-being of our community. While serving on the foundation's Board of Governors, Dori was inspired to create her own fund to support our region in perpetuity.
“I think there is an innate drive in all of us to do something for others, to help our community, to give back in some way," Dori explained, "the question is how best to do that.”
Dori's answer to the question of where her funds would have the most impact is to stipulate that all proceeds from her fund become part of the foundation’s The Community Fund. This way, The Community Foundation's Board of Governors may determine what community needs are most pressing and what opportunities are most promising and direct funding support accordingly.
Dori's vision mirrors The Community Foundation: we love our region and strive to offer sustainable solutions to critical challenges as they arise. Through The Community Fund, The Community Foundation provides coordination, collaboration and sustained investment. When donors choose to give to this unrestricted fund, whether by establishing a designated fund or contributing directly, the foundation can connect financial resources and human capital to effective nonprofits and community groups already at work. Dori's charitable giving will continue to grow our Community Enrichment Fund and help address our community's most critical needs.
About Designated Funds
A Designated Fund enables a donor to invest in the precise cause or community issues that they care most about.
When you set up a Designated Fund with the foundation, you define its specific charitable purpose, even its beneficiaries, at the fund’s inception. Designated Funds are strongly focused: once you have thoughtfully determined the way you want to structure your fund, grants will be distributed in perpetuity.
The Community Foundation administers the fund without significant change based on the donor's initial instructions. When a grant is made, the foundation monitors how the funds are used to ensure that the use fulfills your charitable goals.
