Lawrence and Janice Davies Family Fund
Rev. Lawrence A. Davies and Mrs. Janice P. Davies left an indelible mark on this community and the hearts of many. Rev. Davies activism, kindness and leadership was impactful to the community as the first black mayor of Fredericksburg, one of the first board members of the foundation in 1997 and beloved community icon. Mrs. Davies was a teacher, caregiver and activist known for her council and handwritten notes. We should all take notice of the benefits of their lifelong work whether spiritual, political or philanthropic.
The fund will support local nonprofit organizations, for initiatives that support:
- Needs of underserved populations,
- Individuals with learning and/or physical disabilities,
- Needs of seniors and aging individuals,
- Equity in socioeconomic factors, including, but not limited to, education, healthcare, economics, homeownership, food access, entrepreneurship and transportation,
- Job skills development and training for young people and unemployed/underemployed individuals,
- Social justice,
- and Faith-based initiatives.
