Virginia Green Lawn Care Announces COVID-19 Donations

RICHMOND, Va.April 30, 2020 /PRNewswire

Today, Virginia Green Lawn Care donated $25,000 to the COVID-19 relief funds of five regional community foundations in each of the markets the company serves – RichmondWilliamsburgCharlottesvilleFredericksburg, and Northern Virginia. Each foundation is receiving $5,000, but Virginia Green is committed to donating up to another $5,000 through a social media campaign.

"Virginia Green is very thankful to be able to continue to work safely, keep our associates employed, and care for our customers' lawns during the important spring season. But because we know this is a challenging time for many, Virginia Green is committed to supporting our communities," said Gil Grattan, President of Virginia Green Lawn Care.

Virginia Green selected regional community foundations because they support multiple community organizations and public agencies meeting the needs of individuals and families most affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The funds are designed to be flexible in focus as needs change over time, and to complement other resources and responses at the national, state, and local levels.

The second part of the donation will be determined through a social media campaign, in which Virginia Green is asking customers, friends, and community members to "Share the Love" by creating some type of heart on their lawn, taking a picture, and tagging the company. For every photo, Virginia Green will donate an additional $10 per picture (up to an additional $5,000).

The campaign launched Wednesday April 29, and all are invited to participate by creating a heart –made out of toys, gardening tools, sports equipment, people, pets – and posting a picture (tagging Virginia Green, #SharetheLove, and #VirginiaGreen).

Lisa Biever, communications director at The Community Foundation in the Rappahannock River Region, expressed her appreciation by saying, "We're so thankful to Virginia Green for their generous donation to the Community Relief Fund. This will help people in our region and across Virginia who are really struggling during this critical time. We appreciate their support, as well as all of our donors who #ShareTheLove!"
