St. Paul's Preservation and Restoration Fund
The fund pays homage to the enduring St. Paul's Parish, tracing its origins to 1667. This distinguished brick church, erected in the late 1760s, replaced two earlier wooden structures, reflecting ever-evolving architectural trends. It now stands as a remarkable example of colonial Virginia's religious architecture of the upper Potomac River region.
Enduring periods of neglect and vandalism, the church's historical importance was acknowledged during its revival and refurbishment in the early 19th century. The fund's primary objective is to guarantee the continuous care, rejuvenation, and conservation of Historic St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, a beloved landmark.
The connection between the St. Paul's Preservation and Restoration Fund and The Community Foundation lies in the shared dedication of numerous current and former board members, many of whom are also devoted parishioners at St. Paul’s. About Designated Funds
A Designated Fund enables a donor to invest in the precise cause or community issues that they care most about.
When you set up a Designated Fund with the foundation, you define its specific charitable purpose, even its beneficiaries, at the fund’s inception. Designated Funds are strongly focused: once you have thoughtfully determined the way you want to structure your fund, grants will be distributed in perpetuity.
The Community Foundation administers the fund without significant change based on the donor's initial instructions. When a grant is made, the foundation monitors how the funds are used to ensure that the use fulfills your charitable goals.
