Fredericksburg, VA — The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region (CFRRR) has been selected as a recipient of the prestigious Chancellor’s Award for Leadership in Philanthropy, presented by the Virginia Community College System, in recognition of its impactful partnership with Germanna Community College.
Now in its 20th year, the Chancellor’s Award celebrates outstanding philanthropic leadership and investment that strengthens Virginia’s community colleges. CFRRR was recognized for its commitment to advancing student success, expanding educational access, and supporting workforce development across the region.
CFRRR has served as a trusted and transformative partner to Germanna Community College, grounded in a shared vision that education should be accessible, equitable, and responsive to community needs. Through strategic grantmaking and thoughtful stewardship of charitable resources, the Foundation has supported scholarships, student emergency funds, and key programmatic initiatives—helping remove financial barriers that often prevent students from completing their education.
“These investments are about more than access, they are about opportunity and long-term success,” said Jamee Rodgers, PhD., CEO of the Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region. “We are proud to partner with Germanna Community College to ensure students have the support they need to persist, graduate, and contribute meaningfully to our region’s future.”
Beyond financial support, CFRRR works closely with Germanna to identify emerging needs and align resources for maximum impact. By bringing together donors, educators, and community leaders, the Foundation helps create sustainable solutions that strengthen both student outcomes and the regional workforce.
“The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region is a truly transformative partner,” said Rhonda Cary Fried, President of the Germanna Community College Educational Foundation. “Their commitment to education and student success has opened doors for countless Germanna students and strengthened our entire region.”
The Community Foundation was formally recognized at the Chancellor’s Award for Leadership in Philanthropy Luncheon on April 22, 2026, at the Country Club of Virginia in Richmond, where honorees from across the Commonwealth were celebrated.
CFRRR’s holistic approach to philanthropy combines funding with leadership, collaboration, and long-term vision, strengthening Germanna’s ability to serve a diverse student population and respond to evolving community needs. This recognition highlights the Foundation’s role as a catalyst for meaningful, lasting change through education.
