Fredericksburg Region, Virginia — September 3, 2025 — The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region proudly announces the appointment of Jamee Rodgers, Ph.D. as its new Chief Executive Officer, ushering in a new era of growth, innovation, and community impact.

Dr. Rodgers, a nationally recognized leader, strategist, and advocate, joins The Foundation with more than two decades of executive leadership experience spanning non-profit management, financial services, education, and large-scale community development. Most recently, he served as President & CEO of the Urban Neighborhood Initiative (UNI) in Kansas City, Missouri, where he led transformative efforts in one of the city’s most vital community-based organizations.

Under his leadership, UNI managed a multi-million-dollar budget, guided over $250 million in real estate investments, advanced workforce development initiatives, and cultivated dynamic public-private partnerships. His work has consistently delivered measurable results in economic development, neighborhood revitalization, and support for underserved communities.

“Jamee brings a wonderful combination of visionary leadership, hands-on experience, and an understanding of the critical role that our Foundation plays in the region,” said Bill Boldon, member of the Board of Governors and Chair of the Strategic Directions Committee which led the search. “His proven ability to guide organizations to new levels of excellence will serve our region well as he takes the helm of the Foundation.”

For more than 25 years, The Community Foundation has served as a vital hub for philanthropy in Planning District 16, connecting generosity with community need. Serving more than 330,000 residents, the Foundation provides a straightforward, powerful, and highly personal approach to giving. Over the past two decades, it has grown into a trusted resource for donors, nonprofits, and the community alike—stewarding 217 named charitable funds, managing over $235,000 in scholarships each year, and awarding more than $3.3 million annually in grants. The Foundation stands as one of the region’s most efficient and effective alternatives to establishing private foundations or charitable trusts.

Outgoing CEO Teri McNally, who led the Foundation for 23 years, reflected on the leadership transition. “It has been a privilege to guide the Foundation as it grew into a strong, impactful force for good in our region,” said McNally. “It’s not about me—it is about the next generation. I know that Jamee will build for the next generation too—because that’s what we do.”

Dr. Kimberly Young, Board Chair of The Community Foundation, also expressed enthusiasm for Rodgers’ arrival: “The Community Foundation is entering its next chapter with strength and vision. Dr. Rodgers’ energy, strategic mindset, and commitment to our community.  He understands that the foundation is about supporting our community while simultaneously helping donors express their legacy through giving.  Jamee’s work will amplify the Foundation’s ability to connect generosity with community needs. We are thrilled to welcome him and confident his leadership will build on our already great organization to inspire even greater impact.”

Jamee Rodgers holds a Ph.D. in Executive Leadership, a Master’s degree in Ministry and Nonprofit Organizational Leadership, and a Bachelor’s degree in Theological Studies and Pastoral Leadership. He also holds certifications in Mediation, Arbitration, and Financial Education, and is a Certified John Maxwell Executive Trainer and Consultant. His influence and thought leadership have been featured in publications including Forbes Magazine, the Kansas City Business Journal, and AARP Magazine.

“I am honored to join The Community Foundation at such a pivotal moment in its history,” said Rodgers. “The Foundation’s growth and stability under Teri McNally’s leadership have created a powerful platform. My focus now is on leveraging that strength to expand our reach, deepen our impact, and create even greater opportunities for the people and communities we serve. Together, we have the chance to achieve something extraordinary.”

A Dallas, Texas native, Rodgers is widely recognized as an influential change driver who is passionate about coaching leaders, empowering diverse groups, and advancing innovative solutions to complex challenges. His appointment signals a bold new chapter for The Community Foundation, with a focus on expanding partnerships, deepening community impact, and driving long-term growth.
