The Martha Scott Ross Literacy Fund

The Martha Scott Ross Literacy Fund was established in August 2022 by Richard Ross and their daughters, Sarah Knoll and Amy Ross as a memorial to a beloved wife and mother, Martha, an educator, and librarian.

For support in designing a proposal that makes best use of available grant funds, we encourage you to contact Director of Donor Services, Casey Hu (casey.hu@cfrrr.org) or 540-373-9292.
In addition to The Community Foundation’s overall grant guidelines, details for this fund include:
- Each year, grants will be made to Librarians/Media Specialists in Stafford, Spotsylvania or Fredericksburg.
- Funding will provide opportunities to support students with a broad range of abilities, communities, backgrounds and learning styles. The fund is open to the full spectrum of opportunities in reading, writing, speaking, listening and visual learning.
- Eligible projects will create age-friendly, safe, and welcoming spaces for multi-cultural student bodies and diverse learners.
- Foster a love of learning in a non-threatening way.
- Incorporate family outreach.
Dates:
- Applications open September 18, 2023.
- Applications will not be accepted after 5:00 PM on October 23, 2023.
- Outcomes will be announced the week of November 20, 2023.
- Funds should be used within 10 months from the grant award.
